Putting On The Veil?

Having spent several dozens of pages and numerous scriptural quotes in establishing the spiritual nature of the New Covenant, we are presented with an interesting dilemma. Does not the popular understanding of the Second Coming of Christ–in which He vanquishes the physical armies of the Earth, sets up a physical throne in physical Jerusalem, and reigns over a physical Kingdom–sound suspiciously like the expectations of the Jews for His first coming? Hence the question of this chapter’s title, Putting On The Veil? Is it possible that, just as the Jews allowed the veil of Moses to shroud elements of Christ’s first coming, the Church has allowed it to shroud elements of His Second Coming? Could it be that, while we think we can discern the speck in the eyes of the Jews regarding Christ’s first coming, our own vision is clouded by a speck (if not a plank) in regards to His Second Coming?
