The MillenniumWe mentioned in the chapter The Dating of Revelation, that eschatological views on the date of Revelation are not necessarily tied to a specific view on the millennium. However, since the topic of the millennium is so integral to one’s eschatological position, we feel it should not be left unmentioned. Because the millennium is so enigmatic, in no way do we claim to have the last word, or even a definite position. We merely provide the reader with some points to consider that call into question some popular concepts regarding the millennium, and present plausible possibilities for it to fit within the framework of Preterism. Before exploring possibilities of what the millennium is, we must establish what it is not. Crucial to this process is understanding that the millennium is only mentioned in one chapter of the Bible—Revelation 20. (p. 363) In the ensuing pages many misconceptions about the Millennium are revealed, and then possible alternatives are suggested. |
